YOUR article (LET, April 28) regarding the woman who, in order to pay her legal bills, may have to sell her home even though the charge against her was dropped, prompts me to write.
I am in the final stages of a divorce and, although there is some property involved, the case itself was straightforward.
However, due to my lack of knowledge on divorce, I went to a solicitor. In fact, I have had two who achieved nothing after costing me some £2,500 between them.
In my case, a visit to the library for a book on divorce and a visit to the County Court was all that was required to get things moving towards a conclusion.
The days of pride in a job well done are, in most cases, long gone.
