BURNLEY Independent councillor Bob Chadwick is recovering in Burnley General Hospital today after suffering a stroke.
Coun Chadwick, whose wife, Pat, is due to become Burnley's new mayoress next week, complained of feeling unwell on Friday night and was seen by a doctor. He collapsed on Saturday morning.
Coun Chadwick, a former leading light in the local Labour Party, withdrew support in the wake of the controversial housing allocations inquiry row and won a place on Burnley council as an Independent in Bank Hall ward last year.
Last week his wife Pat failed to retain a place on Burnley council by just 14 votes. She will be installed as mayoress to mayor elect Eddie Fisk on Wednesday week.
