A TEENAGE girl was allegedly imprisoned and seriously assaulted in a house in Southfield Street, Nelson, in an incident which lasted at least 12 hours.
Police were called to the house at 6am on Saturday.
Detective Inspector Colin Barton said: "We got information to say a girl was being held prisoner. We forced an entry and rescued her.
"The house was occupied by a 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman who were arrested.
"The 18-year-old suffered bruising but no broken bones and was taken to Burnley General Hospital where her injuries were treated and she was allowed home."
DI Barton said two other people were arrested on Saturday in connection with the incident.
An 18-year-old woman was released without charge and a 52-year-old man was released on police bail.
He said other people were being sought in connection with the incident, said to have started on Friday afternoon.
Two occupiers of the house on Southfield Street were charged with unlawful imprisonment and assault and were due to appear before Burnley magistrates today.
