A ROSSENDALE businessman is waging war against drug addicts who have used an area under his mill as a den.
A high profile poster placed outside the former Butterworth's Mill in Burnley Road East, Waterfoot, says 'Danger Drug Addict's Den. Parents and Children Beware.'
The poster has been placed by the mill's new owners, development company B & E Boys, which bought the mill to convert into industrial units.
Managing director Brian Boys said: "One of my lads cleared up underneath the building and found dozens of needles, beer cans and broken bottles. They have been using it as a den and I was worried for the safety of children in the area. It is frightening, I have grandchildren living locally and I am just not having it. If a children cut themselves or pick up one of the needles they could get infected.
"As an interim measure, I have put up razor wire to deter the drug users and the poster to make sure parents and children are aware of the problem, I am also applying for planning permission to fence the area off so we can make it secure.
"The drug addicts won't be happy but proper law abiding citizens have said we have done the right thing."
