PLAYED in atrocious conditions, the Under 13s semi-final play-offs both went to extra time and penalties in the Hyndburn District Boys Football League.

Barrowford took the lead against Huncoat United, in the first half through a penalty, only for Huncoat to rally in the second half with a deserved equaliser.

Neither team added to their tally in extra time. Barrowford won the penalty shoot-out 4-3.

The Blackburn Eagles v Brunlea Juniors match produced no goals at all during open play. The penalty shoot-out was less than clear cut, also with both teams ending on three goals after five penalties each. It took a further four penalties on sudden death before Brunlea missed, handing the tie to Blackburn Eagles.

On Sunday, Blackburn Boys Club defeated St Anne's & St Joseph's in the final of the play-offs with a goal in the second period of extra time. This was a highly contested match with neither side deserving to lose.

The Under 15 semi-finals also took place, with Blackburn Eagles needing extra time to overcome Blackburn Boys Club and Oswaldtwistle St Mary's overcoming Brunlea Juniors.

For the Oswaldtwistle side it was a case of score two early goals and invite the opposition to attack. This they did in the second half, which meant that Oswaldtwistle were camped in their own half for much of the second half.

The Under 16s league play-off final saw West End Utd beat Darwen Utd 3-2. Results (May 4) - Under 13 Red: Brunlea Juniors 1, Barrowford Celtic 2. Under 15 Blue: Blackburn Eagles 11, Burnley Belvedere 1.

May 7 - Under 13 Blue: Feniscowles St Pauls 4, Rossendale Valley 1.

Under 13s play-off semi-finals: Barrowford Celtic 5, Huncoat Utd 4 (aet and pens); Blackburn Eagles 7, Brunlea Juniors 6 (aet and pens).

May 9 - Under 14s play-off: Blackburn Boys Club 1, St Anne's & St Joseph's 0 (aet).

Under 15s play-off semi-finals: Blackburn Boys Club 0, Blackburn Eagles 3 (aet); Brunlea Juniors 1, Oswaldtwistle St Mary's 2.

Under 16 play-off final: Darwen Utd 2, West End Utd 3.

Fixtures - Thursday, May 13: Under 13 play-off final to be played at Great Harwood Town FC (kick off 6.15pm): Barrowford Celtic v Blackburn Eagles.

Under 15s play-off final to be played at Great Harwood Town FC (kick off 7.45pm): Blackburn Eagles v Oswaldtwistle SM.

The annual presentation evening will be held on Friday, June 4 at King George's Hall, Blackburn, starting at 7.30pm.
