FEARS were growing today for the safety of a missing 15-year-old Burnley boy who vanished more than a week ago.

The worried family of Daniel Jackson have made a desperate appeal for him to get in touch.

Daniel walked out of his home in Waddington Road eight days ago after a minor row with his mum over the use of a computer and has not been seen since.

His mum, Diane, said he was proud of his appearance, but he left home without money or change of clothing.

She said: "He is a smart lad who likes to get bathed and changed every day. He is also a big eater and likes his home comforts.

"He has been away from home before but has always stayed in the local area and never been away for more than three days. I cannot understand it. I am becoming very worried about him fearing that he might be with older lads and in the wrong company.'' Excluded from Gawthorpe High School, Padiham, because of aggressive behaviour, Daniel has been attending a youth centre at Nelson.

Mrs Jackson said: "He doesn't like it there and we were trying to get him back in school. He likes football, music and his computer. Recently he started hanging around with older lads in the Gannow Lane area.

"His dad has looked all over for him but his friends say they have not seen him. There have been no reported sightings.

"We want him to contact us and let us know he is safe or for any of his friends who know where he is to get in touch with the police.''

Sgt Stan Heaton said police were growing increasingly concerned for the safety of Daniel, who recently turned 15.

He is described as tall for his age, slim with a tanned complexion, blue eyes and black hair. He has two plain gold earrings in both ears, a gold sovereign ring on his right hand and a signet ring with the initial D on his left hand.

He was wearing blue jeans, a white tracksuit top and yellow and black trainers.

Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to contact police on 01282 863161.
