BLACKBURN schoolgirl Lisa Richardson answered a late call from the England selectors on Thursday, and travelled to Northern Ireland the following day to run in the Knockdhu International Fell Race. She helped the England under 20 ladies team to take victory against teams from Wales, Scotland and Ireland by taking the first four places in the three mile race. The Chorley AC ace, who is only 15, took fourth behind winner Laura Hughes of Horwich.
The senior men and veteran men were also involved in internationals against the same opposition. Their race, which was 4.7 miles long, included two laps of a course containing short steep climbs and descents. Mervyn Keys of Rossendale, 12th overall was third veteran and Mike Wallis of Clayton Harriers, making his international debut, was fourth veteran in 23rd position. The pair helped England to a convincing victory intheir match. Shaun Livesey retired from international comeptition in 1993 and this was his first representative honour since. Now aged 36, he finished 17th and was third counter for the England Senior team which took second position.
