REGARDING your report (LET, March 31) and Mrs Ruth McGrear's remarks (Letters, May 5), now is the time for North West Water and Burnley Council to get their act together and re-route the two surface water sewer pipes that empty on the pond at Mill Hill Farm, Hapton, taking them 400 metres down Mill Lane to the outfalls in Castle Clough.
If they visited the farm they would see all the geese, moorhens, ducks, goats and sheep that rely on the pond. I have fished the pond along with others and witnessed soap suds, detergent, sewage and oil pouring from the pipes.
There is also severe flooding of surrounding fields and footpaths.
With a new housing development being built, there is no way the pond can cope with any more water or pollution.
If North West Water sincerely "cares for the environment" it should spend some of its vast profits and re-route these pipes.
