LOWTON Civic Hall won't be turned in to a night club (writes Brian GOMM).
Wigan Leisure chief Rodney Hill has scotched rumours about the Hesketh Meadow Lane hall.
"There is no truth whatsoever in the rumour," he said, assuring nearby residents that they could stop worrying.
He said the rumours could have stemmed form two factors - doormen being employed and public entertainment licence changes.
But Mr Hill said doormen were engaged to prevent vandal attacks and the licence changes were needed to accommodate Northern Soul events.
Director of Leisure Mr Hill said: "It is nothing to do with any plan to turn the place in to a night club. We confirm absolutely there exists no such plan, either now or for the future."
