ATHERTON councillors are appealing to residents to put their thinking caps on.
They are seeking original ideas to help cheer up the wards.
This year the Brighter Borough cash pot has been made bigger, allowing the areas extra funds to spend on projects for the Millennium.
Over the past two years nearly all the money spent has been matched by local business and organisations.
It has been used for footpath enhancement in Howe Bridge, resurfacing the Morley Street tennis courts, bulb planting in Mealhouse Lane, Howe Bridge, Dorset Road, Lilford Park and Atherton Central park.
A new set of swings has also been provided in Cromer Drive Park.
Money has been provided towards ginnel improvements next to Yates Greer.
This year floral displays will be mounted on lamp posts for the second year and CCtv on car parks and on Market Street.
May Poles will also be erected to celebrate Atherton Festival.
Now ward councillors are looking for your suggestions. Write to Cllr Sue Loudon at 80, Bag Lane, or via the town hall. The most novel ideas will get priority.
