THIS was the game that confirmed Blackburn Boys as the Under 10s League and Cup double winners.
In a first half that Blackburn Boys totally dominated, Mark Ratuzniak put in the perfect corner for Lee Smith to head home and put Blackburn Boys into the lead.
Man of the match was Nathan Cross who worked hard in attack and chased back to help out at the back, he also found the space to strike a superb right-footed shot that hit the woodwork and should have sealed the game.
In the second half Rossendale put the pressure on, but the outstanding defensive pairing of Matt Andrew and Chris Smalley did the business and kept the pressure off the goalkeeper, Grant Jenkinson who had to make one excellent save to deny Rossendale an equaliser.
Up front Jack Regan worked hard holding up the ball and laying it off to the oncoming wingers. Both teams battled hard but Blackburn got the deserved result and capped an excellent season for the boys.
Special mention should also go to the young referee of the game who did well.
Team: G Jenkinson, C Smalley, M Andrew, L Smith, M Ratuzniak, N Cross, J Regan, M Wiggins, A Kendal, B McDermott.
