LEADING football writers and broadcasters chose the late Stan Mortensen for their list of eleven legends.
The award will be presented to Blackpool FC this Saturday at 2.30pm (May 15) when Stan Mortensen will become an AXA FA Cup Legend before Blackpool kick off for the last game of the season at Colchester.
Cyril Robinson will receive the award on behalf of Stan Mortensen.
Stan Mortensen joined Blackpool in May 1948.
He played 354 games and scored 222 goals.
He scored once in the 1948 FC Cup Final but went two better by scoring a hat-trick in the famous Cup Final of 1953.
Stan scored an incredible 24 goals in 25 matches for England.
The month of May is a remarkable month for Stan.
He was born in May, signed for Blackpool in May, made his England debut in May and scored his FA Cup Final hat-trick in May.
Stan died in May on the day Blackpool qualified to play at Wembley in the play-off final.
