NEWTON Hall Amateur Swimming Club members continued their early season success with convincing wins in the North West Micro League for 9 to 12-year-old swimmers.
For the local derby event at the Lido pool against Rosegrove, Blackpool and Clitheroe, Newton Hall won 25 of the 43 events to give them 147 points to Rosegrove 135, Blackpool 78 and Clitheroe 69 points.
Wins by the nine-year-old girls were the medley relay, mixed medley relay and freestyle relay.
The 10-year age group winners were Ben Penswick, Caroline Edmonson, Ben New (twice), Melissa Taylor and Ashley Blackemore. They also won the girls medley relay and the boys and girls freestyle relay.
Individual wins for the 11-year-old age group were Steven Kent and Kathryn Whitley. The girls also won the freestyle relay.
A strong 12-year-old side won three of their four relays, along with individual winners Leanne Bonney, Lewis Jones, Andrew Hodgson (twice), Janette Rogerson, Oliver Roberts and Anna Brigden.
The rematch at St Annes Pool between Newton Hall, Rosegrove, Preston and Blackburn was a much tighter affair, but a strong second half performance edged Newton Hall in front.
The final result of Newton Hall, 136 pts, Rosegrove 117, Preston 106 and Blackburn 60pts was never in doubt.
