Wigan 23 West Park 12 ALDWINIANS' 70-point win at Birkenhead Park effectively destroyed any hopes West Park had of snatching promotion.
A 54-point win at Audenshaw Park on Saturday is now the impossible task of Park to gain the solitary promotion spot.
Meanwhile, this play-off game, after the drawn Trophy Final, to decide which club goes into the Tetley Bitter Cup draw next season was decidedly a 'match too far' for West Park and a lacklustre performance and the absence of both player coaches due to injury brought the almost inevitable result at Douglas Valley against a Wigan side cock-a-hoop after gaining promotion to North West Two.
Wigan romped into a 17-point lead before Park's re-arranged side could draw breath, former Sale and North of England forward Andy McFarlane scored first followed by left winger Andy Gibson who ran in two tries, centre Andrew Rasburn converting one.
Park eventually scored via Elliot Laughton the conversion by Neil Kilshaw who missed an easy penalty before half time.
A Liam McLoughlin try after half time further reduced the arrears but a penalty by Rasburn and a second successful kick by Colin Billington completed a deserved Wigan victory.
Park must face another side already promoted this Saturday at Aldwinians
