CHAMPIONS! That's the Bury Times which has just scooped a top award.
The 20p Tuesday edition, which was relaunched as a paid-for newspaper in 1996 after 14 years as a free publication, won the Newspaper Society award for its 24.5 per cent sales increase last year - the best in the United Kingdom in the under-15,000 sales category.
The Tuesday-Friday mix of news, sport and advertising now reaches more than 70,000 local readers every week.
Proudly pictured with the trophy are group editor Bill Allen (left) and advertisement director Philip Wheelhouse.
