LANCASTER and Morecambe College has received high praise from its recent inspection by the Government's Inspectorate. The college underwent a rigorous inspection by the Further Education Funding Council's team of inspectors in February and their report, published today, heaps high praise on its teaching, facilities and management.
Across the whole college the inspectors found " courses enhanced by a wide range of modern, well-equipped realistic work environments, senior managers strongly committed to improving quality, good access for all students to a wide range of student services and Governors taking an active role in setting and monitoring the college's strategic direction."
The inspectors judged that 74per cent of the college's lessons were either good or outstanding, compared with the national average of 65per cent. The vocational areas of Hospitality, Catering, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy were particularly singled out for their all round excellence.
College Principal David Roddam says, " This is a really splendid report and fully justifies our boast to be one of the best Colleges in the country. Although our previous Inspection five years ago was good, the Inspectors have clearly recognised the strides we have made since then to improve the College and its service to its community."
