DAREDEVIL skydiving duo Ian Chick and Steve Houlker have won a place in an elite parachute team which will attempt to shatter a British record.
Initially they intend to build a freefall formation of 100 people falling at 120mph and then they will attempt a European record of 120.
Organising group, Brit100, formed last year to create a new record and to try to push it into three figures.
Over a five-day period in July they managed to improve the four-year-old record of 60 on three occasions to 68, 80 and 98, despite less than perfect weather conditions.
This year the record attempts will take place at Langar Airfield, Nottinghamshire between July 12 and 16.
Steve, 40, of Bull Hill, Darwen, who runs Darwen-based business, Flu Safe, and self employed plumber, Ian, 38, of Sunnyhurst Lane, Darwen, are both regulars at the Black Knights Parachute Centre near Lancaster.
Ian said: "We both took part in the attempt last year and are really looking forward to trying again."
They each need to raise £500 in sponsorship before the event.
Anybody who wants to help should ring Ian on 01254 775091.
