WITH their closest rivals Rivington losing against Southport, Belvedere won the Lancashire Amateur League at home with a victory over Accrington Amateurs.
Although this turned out to be a hard fixture, in a must-win game the nerves were showing, but took the lead through Paul Crorken.
Then Accrington equalised, keeper McGinty gifting a goal. Paul Crorken then got his second and then chances were spurned before Accrington equalised again, and but for McGinty could have gone in front. After the break, a 20-minute spell of dominance culminated in Paul Crorken getting his hat trick, then for the last 25 minutes they were under pressure. But some last-ditch defending and a little luck, saw them hold out to win.
Manager Andy Baker congratulated his players, saying: "It's a great achievement in our first year and we look forward to next year."
