THE dilapidated Co-op building in Darwen was at the centre of a dramatic rescue bid.
Darwen Business Association mounted an action plan to save the the Victorian landmark in School Street, which they feared had been condemned by a Blackburn Council buy-out , and held secret talks with top level Co-op executives and property developers.
Converted for the new archive on 14 July 2000. Some images and formatting may have been lost in the conversion.
