A 23-year-old man is in hospital after being kicked in the head in a savage street robbery.

The victim was walking along Ightenhill Street, Padiham, at 1.15am on Sunday when he was approached by a man demanding money.

When he ignored the demand, he was punched in the face. When he fell to the floor he was kicked about the head.

The injured man threw his black Armani wallet containing £40 and cards at his attacker.

Det Sgt Tony Ronan said: "The victim was admitted to hospital and detained for observations because of bruising and swelling to his head.'

The attacker is described as white, 5ft 10ins and wearing black clothing.
