A DAY of fun and games at a Blackburn park got a week-long environmental festival off to a flying start.
Blackburn with Darwen's annual GreenWeek event got under way this weekend and to mark the occasion a fair was held at Witton Park.
The day included brass band music, face painting and crafts and arts with a serious environmental message.
Other attractions included a stand promoting the Lancashire Evening Telegraph's Grimewatch campaign, a bouncy castle and Indian dancing.
The fair was opened by the mayor Coun Florence Oldfield.
A week of activities is planned for across the borough and further details can be obtained from the Community Events Unit on 01254 697946.
Blackburn with Darwen Council's community events co-ordinator Steve Lee said: "We have a packed programme and there is plenty to do all week long at venues throughout the borough."
