FOR Neil Bramwell (LET, May 13) to castigate Alex Ferguson for "petty resentment" over Brian Kidd leaving Old Trafford is amazing.

This is the man who has taken every opportunity to show his own resentment with anyone who has left Ewood Park over the last few seasons.

Shearer, Le Saux, Batty and Sherwood have never been spared - except, of course, from playing in the Nationwide League.

"Rovers' team this season has not had the quality to survive in the Premiership. It is as simple as that." Not my words, but those of your Rovers' reporter Peter White.

Why has it taken him so long to utter them?

This relegation could do Blackburn a lot of good - but I fear it will not.

Already we have Jack Walker demanding (no less) that they get promoted next season.

If Mr White's quote is correct, and if it were not possible to rectify the quality in the top league this season, why should it be any more possible in Division One?

A less arrogant and more realistic approach is necessary before a return to the big time is likely.
