THE £10-million bidding starts this week for Chris Sutton. I just wonder how many games he would have played in if he was on "pay-if-you-play" like the rest should have been.
The Rovers have turned into a club that cannot hang on to its better players.
Ray Harford did not have the pulling power. Give him due, he did try for Casiraghi and Batistuta, but he finished with Matty Holmes and Graham Fenton.
No wonder big-name players at the club were beginning to ask questions about the club's ambitions.
When Roy Hodgson arrived in June, 1997, out went Le Saux and Berg. In came players like Martin Dahlin and Patrick Valery. The rest is history where Hodgson is concerned.
I cannot see the players who Brian Kidd has brought in doing anything next season.
Thanks for the great memories.
