POLICE investigating a town centre street robbery in Burnley are appealing for witnesses - especially men in cars only yards from the scene.
A bakery worker was threatened as he was taking the store's takings to the bank at about 5pm on Saturday.
The man was grabbed from behind in Hargreaves Street and dragged into an alleyway where he handed over a black bag containing a substantial amount of money.
As the shop worker rounded the corner into Hargreaves Street there was a stationary vehicle outside the post office facing in his direction.
There was no driver in the saloon but the passenger is described as about 25 years of age, white, wearing shorts and a T-shirt.
Once the attacker had taken the bag and left the victim, a grey or metallic silver small hatchback car was seen reversing into a car park space only 10 or 12 feet away at the top end of Victoria Street.
A white male aged between 20-25 was in the car.
Detectives want both these people and any other witnesses to contact them on 01282 425001.
The thief was white, stockily built, around 5ft 10in in his late twenties. He had light brown stubble.
