THE NIGHT MARE,
by Robert Westall,
Mammoth, £3.50
THIS tells the adventures of a boy called Billy and his gang. They are always attempting to get their own back on Mrs Grimmond, a horrible woman who lives down their street. She doesn't like the children, and when their ball goes into her garden she keeps it and puts it on her window sill for all to see.
I liked Billy because he seems a bit like me, but Mrs Grimmond is like a witch and really mean. Every time she goes to collect the rent from Billy's house she deliberately sits in grandad's chair.
Billy is fascinated by a horse called Night Mare who is stabled at his grandfather's old house. My favourite part of the book is when the gang get someone to drop horse manure outside Mrs Grimmond's back garden for revenge.
