LIVING in a care home can be very costly and although some people may be able to pay their own fees, many will need help to meet the cost. The rules about paying for care can be complicated, and you may wish to have help.

Counsel and Care, a national charity with an advice service for older people, has produced a factsheet which explains how the funding system works. You can obtain this by sending a 9 x 6 stamped addressed envelope to me. Alternatively, on our national advice line (0845 300 7585) trained workers can advise on funding as well as benefits, community care, choosing a home, or any other matters.
