IT was reassuring to read of the promised return of the three ex-councillors for Castle ward (Citizen: May 13) do they not think that the voters might have a say in this? The letter says the voters of Castle ward have spoken but have Henig, Sutton and Rye listened?
Their letter (unless it was edited) congratulated their opponents but did not address what is the basic problem - them! Many people I know hold socialist principles close to their hearts and in the past have naturally aligned themselves with the Labour party because the Labour party best represented their views and local councillors worked hard fighting for people in their ward on local issues. The dismissive and conceited anti-community stance used to be the attitude adopted by the Tories but it seems they no longer have sole claim on this. Unless these three and others interested in public service learn to listen to what people want they will never get re-elected and if by some chance they do and revert to type, voters will kick them out again.
Unless I've missed something, they've missed something.
