A GLOWING Ofsted report has delighted staff and pupils at Frenchwood County Primary School - and inspired them to brush up on their IT skills.
Information technology is an area in which staff at the Preston school want to develop their abilities - so it's back to the classroom with weekly evening classes designed to help them get to grip with laptop technology.
Frenchwood was delighted to receive a complimentary Ofsted report, which described it as 'a good school'.
Inspectors visited it for four days in March, and observed 66 lessons, spoke to pupils, watched assemblies and witnessed play times.
Headteacher Susan Heyworth said: "The report points out several times the good relationships between staff and children and parents.
"Good teaching methods and the successful implementation of the National Literary Strategy have raised standards.
"The report also points out the good quality support given to children with language difficulties and special needs."
Key issues for the school are raising pupils' attainment in information technology and staff are hoping that a successful bid to the National Grid for Learning will provide the equipment and training needed.
Preston College is providing a tutor, Joan Chester, and has loaned Frenchwood the laptops for nine sessions.
This facility is also available free to anyone over the age of 16. Contact Jackie or Paula at Preston College on (01772) 225522.
