IT'S all there in black and white - Northfold County Primary are champions when it comes to chess.
The Cleveleys school has had a highly successful year culminating in a brilliant performance in the Saitek UK which sees them go forward to the national final in July.
Other highlights included winning the Fylde Coast Primary Chess League for the third year in succession, captain Christian Lamb having trials for the England U11 team and having three pupils in the Lancashire U9 and U11 teams which won the National County Championships northern division.
On an individual basis, Christian Lamb, Christopher Dixon and Matthew Wood all had wins in the English primary Schools Radioplay Championship.
A great tradition for chess has now been developed at Northfold with more than 30 children playing regularly at lunchtimes as well as after school and taking great delight in challenging headteacher Bob Bushell, often beating him.
