A HUSBAND and wife team have forged a unique partnership worth £17,000 between the schools they work at.
Carolyn Clay, reception co-ordinator at Claremont Primary, and her husband Peter, senior master at Langdale Independent Preparatory School, are celebrating the cash boost as part of a national education programme.
The couple worked in a team of four, including Langdale headmaster Richard Rendell and Claremont's deputy head Gary Smith, to prepare the bid for the Department of Education and Employment's partnership programme.
It has meant the two schools have been able to team up for a project entitled The Development of Blackpool and Its Relationship to Tourism.
Richard Rendell said: "This is absolutely fabulous news for the staff, governors, parents and pupils of both schools.
"We were tremendously excited when the news came of the award.
"The money will go towards all the costs of the project which will cover all sections of the National Curriculum, from day trips to Wigan Pier to more mundane things like photocopying.
"In addition, I think this will give the children from both schools an opportunity to mix with different cultures and backgrounds."
The schools are hoping to finish their project with an exhibition at the Grundy Art Gallery in Blackpool, including photographs and a video.
