In an exciting game at New Street, Sutton seconds batted first against Caldy and made 117 on a track made difficult by the rain.
Luke Tunstall with 36, Gary Frost with 21 and Phil Jukes with 25 were Sutton's leading batsmen. In reply Caldy were coasting at 70-1 until vice captain Ste Greener decided to turn his arm and took 7-32 to give Sutton a chance of victory.
But Caldy's opening bat had batted through the innings and steered them to victory by two wickets.
On Sunday Sutton's First XI played Fleetwood in the Lancashire Cup.
Sutton were always struggling against their Northern League opponents and made 135-8 from their 45 overs with Mike Rimmer 35 and Sean Anders 33 starring with the bat.
Despite a huge effort the Fleetwood batsmen knocked off the runs with the loss of only one wicket.
