Aldwinians 38 West Park 20 CHAMPIONSHIP and promotion positions in North West leagues had already decided, so West Park were forced to fulfil this game of no consequence with an extensive injury list.
But club officials expressed unstinted post-match praise for the youngsters who were brought into the side and on the day acquitted themselves with great credit.
Park's problems were accelerated even more with the score after 10 minutes when Tongan centre Harmon Tuavao was sent off after intervention from the touch judge following an incident involving Aldwinians coach Mike Kenrick.
Forced to move teenage stand-in scrum-half Peter Osborne to centre (his normal playing position) Park had to move flanker Phil Houlton to work the scrummage and he performed more than adequately there.
The game was over by half-time with Aldwinians leading 20-8, Phil Houlton scoring a try and Neil Kilshaw a penalty.
Another home try immediately after the interval virtually killed the game off but Park showed why they are worthy runners-up by adding a 65-yard try by Abrahams and a forced try by Parks' next season's club captain Sean Fletcher.
