TEACHER'S union chief Christine Blower visited the district this week to rally opposition to the Government's education plans.
The ex NUT president and candidate for national general secretary, visited three local primary schools and Central Lancaster High and also talked to a packed meeting of teachers.
Speaking about the Government's education green paper, Christine said: "We are implacably opposed to performance related pay. Our boycott of appraisal will not interfere with childrens' learning. We will be teaching as usual. However, the Government should listen to the voices of NUT members who have voted by a massive 96 per cent in favour of this action and against performance related pay."
