GREATER Manchester Police's helicopter was scrambled when two suspected burglars smashed into three vehicles during their getaway.
The men abandoned their stolen car in Bury New Road, Whitefield, after a double collision, and made off on foot.
But one man was arrested a short time later in Unsworth and a second was detained by officers early yesterday, May 20, at an address in Prestwich.
During the drama, which happened around 3.45pm, the GMP helicopter assisted their colleagues on the ground.
The alert happened after two men attempted to break into a house in Prestwich.
Police were quickly on the scene and chased the men who drove off at speed.
Their getaway car initially hit another vehicle outside Tesco's in Prestwich and, a short time later, was in collision with two other vehicles outside McDonald's in Bury New Road, Whitefield.
The men abandoned their car at the scene and made off on foot.
No-one required hospital treatment following the collisions.
