A FEEDING code at Sherdley Park's Pets Corner has been introduced to protect animals that suffer minor health problems when fed by the public.
Visitors to the corner are asked to follow the code which includes:
Don't feed:
Bread as too much is harmful to an animal's health and also makes the pond unpleasant for the ducks and geese.
Veg peelings - do not feed anything to an animal that you would not eat yourself (peel from citrus and soft fruit such as lemons, oranges, Kiwi fruit)
Leaves or branches from around the site.
Do feed
Fresh fruit and veg (carrots, apples and cabbage)
Corn and bird seed (small amounts are fine but if the birds ignore it, they're not hungry).
Please remember that piles of uneaten food look unsightly and attract vermin. The animals in Pets Corner are fed a balanced, suitable diet by staff and do not require supplementary feeding.
