THE word party has taken on a whole new meaning for bubbly student Caroline Lawson. For the 21-year-old, who is currently studying for a BA Honours Degree in Public Policy Management at De Montford University in Leicester, is the toast of the Conservative Party after becoming its youngest councillor in the country by winning a seat on Rushcliffe Borough Council in Nottingham.
Now Caroline, whose parents Carol and John live in Heron Grove, Rainford, intends to pursue a career in politics, hoping one day to represent the Tory Party as an MP.
A former pupil at De La Salle School and Carmel College, where she got nine GCSEs and three A-levels, she polled more than 1,000 votes to win her seat representing the village of Gamston.
She told the Star: "People who know me just won't believe this. I'm a party girl by nature and really enjoy life so they probably won't be able to imagine me as a councillor. But I have become very interested in politics and am determined to pursue a career within the Conservative Party.
"My mum and dad and sister, Jacqueline, have encouraged me all the way. I still come home most weekends and intend to do so in the future."
And despite her hectic lifestyle, Caroline is very much looking forward to an 'alliance' of her own next summer when she is due to marry fiance, Aron Wilkins, in Nottingham, on June 10.
