BLACKBURN'S Tony Jackson won the Lancashire Amateur Championship for the first time at Ormskirk yesterday.
Jackson fought off a fierce challenge from Shaw Hill star Nick Dougherty to edge home by two shots.
Jackson went into the final round with a narrow one-shot lead and over the closing holes Dougherty turned on the pressure.
But Jackson kept his head and finished two clear of the England Boys player with a four-round total of 286.
"To beat someone like Nick is brilliant because he's obviously a hot prospect," said a delighted Jackson.
"But I'm probably playing the best golf of my life at the moment and consistency seems to be the important thing."
