POLICE officers cleared about 150 people from a Pendle pub, after scuffles broke out following a screening of the FA Cup Final.

They were called to the George and Dragon, Gisburn Road, Barrowford, at 9.15pm on Saturday to deal with the disturbance.

Sergeant Jon Yates, of Nelson Police, said: "There was no trouble when we arrived, but there had been some kind of disturbance.

"The pub was very full and there had been some sort of scuffle inside. We cleared most of the people from the pub and they dispersed quietly.

"There was broken glass from drinks glasses on the floor and it was quite dangerous, but there was no other damage inside the pub.

"It appears some of them had been watching the match in the afternoon and had been drinking right through into the evening."

Landlady Carole Haworth, said: "There was just a bit of barging going on and it became a bit too much for me to handle,

"There were a few glasses broken. We re-opened after about three quarters of an hour." One man was arrested.
