HOW I chuckled at your sports letters page (LET, May 18) especially the comments of Philip Holden and J Aspinall - for, as Neil Bramwell wrote regarding possibly the greatest club manager this century, their "arrogance is beyond contempt," especially the rather pedantic remarks concerning any rivalry between Burnley and Blackburn.
I have been a supporter of Burnley since 1970, the first league match I attended at Turf Moor, rather ironically was against Manchester United (Division One, of course).
Before Jack Walker delved into his wallet, the roles were reversed somewhat regarding the two clubs - the truth being "every dog has its day."
Blackburn have had theirs, I don't think they'll be missed from the Premier League, or indeed the UEFA Cup, and more laughably the Champions' League where their displays were not only an insult to England, but at times were bordering on the comical.
