THE seven-day long Pru Tour which started in Central London on Sunday will be arriving in our own area tomorrow and offering some ideal opportunities to spectate.
The race leaves Liverpool at 11am and after looping around the southern side of Preston will come via Walton-le-Dale and Curedale to the A59 and along via Oaks Bar to the Whalley by-pass and on to the A671 to head towards Sabden for about 1pm. Then comes the first of three major climbs on the stage, the first category ascent of the Nick O'Pendle which will make a perfect venue to enjoy the action. Descending back to the A59 and via Pimlico Road and into Clitheroe, then on via Waddington for the second first category climb of Waddington Fell (1.20pm). It is then via the Trough of Bowland (1.40pm) and Garstang to the stage finish on Blackpool Promenade at the Sandcastle at around 2.50pm.
On Saturday, the final day of the race takes the riders from Carlisle to Edinburgh where there is then a circuit event similar to the first London stage to sort out the final placings.
