A DRUG dealer was today facing 10 years in prison for killing Accrington teenager Sajjad Mahmood.
James Butler, 21, of Persia Street, Accrington, was sentenced to 10 years for beating the teenager and forcing him into a lodge where he later died.
The judge, Mr Justice Forbes, said Butler had carried out a savage beating and had also made considerable profit from his drugs business.
Two other men received sentences of six years each for their part in the attack on Sajjad, formerly of Royds Street, Accrington.
Karl Barton, 22, of Manor Gardens and Wayne Kelly, 23, of Royds Street, both Accrington, had admitted conspiracy to supply drugs and been found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent to Sajjad Mahmood.
James Butler was also sentenced after he admitted conspiracy to deal drugs.
Butler got six years for the manslaughter, which he admitted, and four years for the conspiracy to supply drugs. The other two got three-and-a-half years for the grievous bodily harm and two-and -a-half years for the conspiracy to supply drugs. All the sentences are to run consecutively.
