A CARDBOARD box factory has been bought out.
Chapman Containers, which employs about 50 people at its Clayton-le-Moors base, has been sold by its parent company, Chapman Industries. The firm has been bought, for an undisclosed sum, by Braeside Street Ltd, a newly-formed company set up by local businessman Peter Street.
"Chapman Containers is a well established and well respected company. I welcome this opportunity and intend to build on the company's sound foundations," said Mr Street.
Ken Shackleton, general manager of Chapman Containers, today welcomed the buyout.
"The new owners will give the backing and the expertise needed to secure a successful business in an increasingly competitive market place," he said.
Last year, the jobs axe fell on 180 workers at New Waterside Paper Mills, another part of the Chapman Industries business.
