PARENTS have blasted a local primary school for failing to provide sufficient facilties for older pupils.
Concerned mums and dads have joined forces with a local councillor to persuade Lea County Primary School headteacher Graham Rowson to install sanitary facilities in the girls' toilets - and provide separate girls and boys changing areas.
They say they were stunned when their children complained of having to change in a classroom in front of each other, despite recent refurbishment at the school.
One concerned mum said: "Children aged 10 and 11 are having to change in front of each other, which is very embarrassing for the older girls who have developed early.
"And there are no sanitary facilities in the girls' toilets. Those who start menstruating early are told to use the staff toilet in the main corridor.
"Other children noticethat this toilet is being used by other pupils and want to know why. It's very embarrassing for the girls."
Another parent added that all attempts to persuade Mr Rowson to make changes had failed.
