I AM writing to let parents in the Limefield Brow area of Bury know of the abuse I have been subjected to in recent weeks, by children who were certainly no more than nine or ten-years-old. Some elderly residents have told me that this is quite commonplace, particularly when young people are asked not to kick footballs near to property.
I may be getting on in years, and may be considered a "fuddy-duddy" in some quarters. Yet I believe that manners and respect - which cost nothing - for the older generation should be as important in society today as it was in years gone by.
I know that many young people have impeccable manners and would never dream of behaving in such a manner - like my own grandchildren, for example. However, a small minority do spoil it for the rest.
