NOW that the election dust has settled, I would like to thank publicly my former councillor colleague, Anne Beckett, for her work in Ramsbottom over the last four years. I know the amount of time she spent trying to improve the town for its residents and visitors.
She jealousy guarded all open spaces, green areas and trees and was vociferous about keeping the streets clean and the place looking attractive. Another of her great interests was provision for children and young people so that they could develop their interests in safety without being a disturbance to others.
There are many scores of people who could testify to her willingness to listen and act for their benefit. So on behalf of those people, and not least for myself, I thank her for caring for our town.
COUNCILLOR SHEILA BARNES,
Ramsbottom.
