TWO of the county's most promising sportsmen, both from King Edward VII School, Lytham, have been recognised by Lancashire Schools' selectors.
Badminton king Mark Womersley, aged 15, was presented with the Old Lidunians' trophy, presented annually to the school's most promising player.
Andy Weston, head of PE, said he was delighted by the progress Mark has made this season.
He said: "Mark has worked hard on his game and is improving all the time. He has done very well to be selected for county honours."
David Wiseman, 18, was presented with the Matthew Crossley trophy which is named in memory of the former King Edward pupil.
David, of St Annes Road East, was the top point scorer for King Edward's 1st XV this season with 12 tries, 36 conversions and 13 penalties.
His talent has now been recognised by the Lancashire selectors and he has even been included in the senior squad at Fylde Rugby Club.
Senior rugby coach at the school Philip Rudd was delighted to present David with his award.
He said: "David was instrumental in a very successful season and showed great commitment to the game.
"He is a very worthy winner of the trophy."
