I TOOK a trip back to childhood this week.
I picked-n-mixed some of my favourite sweets of the Fifties, just to see if the fond memory of those wonderful tastes was real - a swizzles lolly, fruit salad, black jacks, a sherbet fountain, refreshers, palma violets and love hearts, the latest hi-tec version of course.
No soppy endearments now - it's 'Fax me' and 'E-mail me'.
And disappointingly they don't taste anything like as good as I remember they did. In fact the sugary things were so sickly they tasted revolting.
It just goes to show that sweet memories should be left to lie.
