RUBEROID Sutton Cricket Club moved up to third place in the league with an excellent win against Cheshire Lines.
Batting first, Sutton started well with 39 for the loss of the first wicket. The score progressed and Kieron Barr and Sean Anders were looking solid.
Anders was eventually out for 10 and Barr was joined by Geoff Bowles. Keiron Barr opened up after he had hit his 50 and some excellent stroke play gave him a magnificent 105 not out.
Geoff Bowles made 30 not out. Sutton then bowled, and some excellent bowling from SS Das 5-15 and Barr 3-22 bowled Cheshire Lines out for 101.
The Second XI were away at Cheshire Lines. Batting first Sutton made 160-9. Poor batting meant it could really have been 200. Brian Wearden with 67 not out and John Allanson with 36 were Sutton's leading batsmen.
Sutton then fielded but some bad fielding coupled with some poor umpiring decisions meant Sutton met with defeat as Cheshire Lines hit 161-5. Ste Greener 2-20 and Dave Laithwaite 2-14 were the pick of the bowlers.
On Sunday the Third XI recorded a great win against Springview. Batting first Sutton made 185-6 with Joe Harvey 59 not out and Dave Pye 26 not out and Derreck Moss 46.
