AS if the bombing in Kosovo wasn't already costing us taxpayers a fortune, we now have thousands of refugees flooding in to this country, stretching our already struggling welfare services to breaking point with handouts and free accommodation.

Yet pensioners have to survive on a pittance and beg for help with fuel bills, while disabled people are in the process of having their benefits reduced.

If this war is what the Americans want, why don't they pick up the bill and accept all the refugees?
