UNBEATEN now in three games the Haydock juggernaut keeps rolling as both first and second elevens enjoyed another successful weekend.
On Saturday the first team entertained Winstanley Park and came away with a four-wicket win. Dave Cross, the Haydock captain, won the toss and put the visitors in to bat, a decision which was immediately backed up by his bowlers who were certainly on the mark right from the first ball.
Adrian Barr claimed 3-15 whilst Dave Burrows was on the mark again with 2-20. Andy Bentham, however, was the pick of the Haydock bowling in a devastating spell he removed K Crompton 38 just when he was starting to play his shots, Tony Duffy 26 was his next victim beaten for sheer pace, in the end Andy finished with 4-24 to keep Winstanley Park down to 115 all out. Ian Clues 16.
Having done the job the bowlers could sit back and leave the rest to the batsmen, and this they did in style. Rob Burke responded well and put quick runs on the board, but Tony Derbyshire for the second week in a row showed why he is batting up the order, with a combination of stout defence and attacking strokes. Tony savaged the bowling on his way to a fine unbeaten 42 to earn himself the Bullshead Garage John Nuttall man of the match award as Haydock reached 119-4 at stumps.

The seconds travelled to Burscough and came away with a winning draw. Scott Pickavance gave Haydock a good start with a resounding 25 while Glen Gardiner 10 and Alan Lever 28 gave the middle order some substance.
Dave Jones battled hard for his brilliant 36 while Ian Brown rattled up a quick 21 along with young Shaun Lathom 19 as Haydock reached 184-10. S Clearly 4-48.
Burscough replied well with N Short 59 and N Lomax 21. However tight bowling from Paul Johnson 2-18 and Dave Jones 1-22 helped Haydock to the draw as Burscough finished on 132-8. Ian Brown chipped in with a good 2-7.
